Finjan Kulturcafe/ Integration And Identity, talk by Housamedden Darwish

This Monday, we got a visit from Germany by the Syrian researcher Housamedden Darwish, who will hold a talk about the integration and identity. Also Buthaina Shahin will be there to moderate the talk and the debate. ====================== About the talk: The Integration And The Identity ===================== What is the meaning of integration, and what is its relationship to the issue of identity? What are the problems and especially whay Syrians generally suffer from with regard to the issue of identity? What are its negative effects on their lives in general? How can we interact (positively) with the mentioned issues and problems? ======================== Housamedden Darwish is a senior researcher fellow at the Centre for Advanced Studies in the Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Leipzig, and lecturer at the Department of Oriental Studies, University of Cologne. His papers, lectures and seminars are on topics related to modern and contemporary Arab intellectual thought and the question of democracy and secularism in the Arab and Islamicate world. He holds a PhD from the Department of Philosophy at the University of Bordeaux3/Montaigne, France, with a specialisation in Hermeneutics. He is the author of three books in French, three in Arabic, and dozens of refereed research papers and studies, in both Arabic and English. He has held visiting positions at the Department of Philosophy, University of Duisburg-Essen, at the Department of Oriental Studies, University of Cologne, and University of Leipzig. His work has been supported by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the Volkswagen Foundation.
